Exfoliating is a simple process that can be done easily at home and often results in softer skin than ever before! And a proper exfoliation routine once or twice a week will keep your skin looking softer than ever.
Take a bath or shower. While not part of the exfoliation process itself, dipping your body in hot water will open up your pores, making the skin easier to clean. It also helps with this process in the bathroom as you need to have a hot water supply ready and you need somewhere to wash off the dead skin flakes once they've been scrubbed off. Use a skin-friendly, fragrance-free cleanser in the bath and wait at least 15 minutes to soften (macerate) the surface of the skin.
Cleanse your skin with a store-bought exfoliator. Spray some exfoliant on your hands and start rubbing it into your skin. It's important to make sure your hands are clean before using an exfoliator; otherwise, you're likely to spread bacteria to your skin and face.
Note: When exfoliating your face, pay attention to the central area of the face, from the forehead to the nose to the chin. Collectively, this is called the "T-zone" and is notorious for being greasy.
If you don't want to use a commercial product, you can use a DIY facial scrub by mixing together sugar and oil, such as olive oil or coconut.
