Our skin is generally divided into dry skin, oily skin, and sensitive skin. When picking a cleanser, choose a product that matches your skin type so you can give your skin the right care. The bottle will say if it is suitable for oily skin, dry skin, combination skin or all skin types. For example, if you have dry, sensitive skin, choose a moisturizing cleanser that is free of dyes and perfumes. Avoid cleansers that contain harsh or drying ingredients, such as alcohol. If your skin is oily, look for a mild soap-based cleanser that is designed to remove dirt and oil from the skin. If you are prone to acne, choose a cleanser that contains anti-acne ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide
During our day, a lot of unseen rough stuff builds up on your skin, clogs pores and irritates our skin. To keep your skin healthy, wash your face in the morning and evening. Washing at night is especially important because you are removing bacteria, dirt, makeup or skin care products throughout the day, and other contaminants that may build up on your skin throughout the day. It's also important to wash your face every time you sweat, as sweat can irritate your skin and clog your pores. Unless you've been sweating or your face is particularly dirty, try to stick to washing your face no more than twice a day. Excessive washing can irritate the skin. To avoid dry and irritated skin, wash with cold or lukewarm water, then apply the cleanser with your fingers.
Washing your face can dry your face out. After you wash your skin, be sure to apply a gentle moisturizer while your skin is still slightly damp. This will help you keep a fresh and dewy glow and reduce fine lines, and it's also a good idea to apply moisturizer before applying makeup. Pick a moisturizer that is free of dyes, perfumes, alcohol and other harsh ingredients. Also, the sun can damage your skin and prematurely age it, so apply a moisturizer with at least 30 SPF (sun protection factor) before going out during the day.
Occasional exfoliation can even out skin and reduce roughness and blemishes. However, using exfoliating products too often can damage your skin. Try using a gentle exfoliating treatment 2-3 times a week, and use less frequently if breakouts, dryness or irritation occur. If you are using any acne treatment, please consult your doctor or dermatologist before attempting to exfoliate. It's important to treat your skin gently to avoid making any breakouts worse. Many dermatologists recommend chemical exfoliants because they are gentler than scrubs or other mechanical exfoliants. If you have dry skin, try a lactic acid peel. For oily or acne-prone skin, a salicylic acid exfoliator may help. You can also gently exfoliate by wiping your face with a soft towel and warm water. Use light circular motions and avoid sensitive areas around the eyes. Never scrub or press hard as this can irritate your skin!
